Forestville holding yard sales today

FORESTVILLE — Forestville will hold its community-wide yard sales from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 12. Residents who want to participate can sign up at Evans Bank or Cave’s Market. There will be a list of participants available at Cave’s on the day of the sales. The Forestville Fire Department will have a chicken barbecue starting at noon until sold out.

Spring pull set for today

STOCKTON — The Chautauqua County Antique Equipment Association will hold its spring pull Saturday at the club grounds, 4578 Cemetery Road, Stockton. Garden tractors begin at 10 a.m. and farm tractors begin at noon. New this year is a flea market on the grounds beginning at 8 a.m. Parking and admission are free.

Library to host plant swap

The Darwin R. Barker Library will be holding a Plant Swap on Saturday outside the library from 9 a.m. to noon. Those who want to take a plant are asked to bring a plant. Drop off plants in containers including the plant’s name and care instructions between 9 and 10 a.m. at the tables outside the library. The swap will start at 10 a.m. and end at noon. Anything left after noon will be up for grabs.

Church to host Children’s Day Sunday

Friendship Baptist Church is celebrating Children’s Day on Sunday at 11 a.m. Children’s Day is a commemorative date observed on the second Sunday in June. The church service is dedicated to children and conducted by the children in the church community.

The speaker will be Minister Douglas Waller, a son of Rev. Mrs. E.G. Waller, Pastor of Friendship. The theme for the service will be “The Right Choice” and our scripture is taken from St. Matthews 18:13. There will be hamburgers and hot dogs served afterwards in an outdoor picnic fellowship. The public is invited.

Vietnam Vet group to meet Sunday

Members of chapter No. 459, Vietnam Veterans of America, will meet at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 13, at John T. Murray VFW Post No. 1017, 113 Deer St., Dunkirk. Face masks and social distancing rules will apply.

Kosciuszko Club chicken barbecue

A dine-in or take-out Weidner’s chicken barbecue will be held at the Kosciuszko Club, 252 Nevins St., Dunkirk on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The cost is $12 per dinner. Tickets are available at the Kosciuszko Club, Big Rick’s One Stop, and the 4th Ward Deli.

NCCF meeting set for Monday

The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation will hold its annual meeting and reception at 4 p.m. Monday via Zoom, with the reception to follow at The RED House in Cassadaga. Those who want to attend can visit nccfoundation.org/2021registration to register.

CVCS School Board to meet Monday

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Cassadaga Valley Central School Board will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday to meet with the district’s architects. The regular monthly meeting will begin at 7 p.m. on Monday. Both meetings will be held in the multipurpose room.

Sheridan Auxiliary to meet Monday

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan VFW 6390 Auxiliary will hold its regular monthly meeting Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the dining room of the post, 2556 Route 20, Sheridan. New committee chairs will be assigned and new officers will prepare to begin their upcoming duties. Summer meeting options and possible fundraising will be discussed. Officers are asked to wear their auxiliary shirts for a formal photo. Coupons for the troops continue to be collected and sent regularly, with coupons submitted to Susan Bigler, auxiliary president. Coupons that have expired are still good for military families to use up to two months past their date.

Deadline set for Atlantic City trip

The Dunkirk Senior Center trip to Atlantic City will be Sept. 26 to 30. Payment is being collected at the Center between 9 a.m. and noon weekdays. For those who would like to take out the trip insurance, that cost must be included with the first payment. The first payment is due by Tuesday, June 15. There are a few seats available.
