COVID vaccination clinic

A drive-through vaccination clinic will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Chautauqua Lake Central School bus garage, 100 N. Erie St., Mayville. No appointments are needed, but pre-registration is available. Bring proper ID and wear a mask. Don’t bring pets.

St. Joseph’s bingo

Bingo will take place at St. Joseph’s parish, 145 E. Main St., Fredonia. Doors open at 5 p.m.; bingo begins at 7. Masks should be worn by those not vaccinated and social distancing will be observed.

1891 Fredonia Opera House Cinema Series

The 1891 Fredonia Opera House will present the movie “Cry Macho” at 7:30 p.m. Mike Milo (Clint Eastwood) is a one-time rodeo star and washed-up horse breeder who, in 1979, takes a job from an ex-boss to bring the man’s young son home from Mexico. Tickets are $7 for adults, $6.50 for Opera House members/seniors, $5 for students. At this time, ALL patrons are asked to wear masks when attending Opera House events

The Dunkirk Farmers’ Market is held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of Ruggles Street and Cliffstar Court at the Dunkirk Senior Center. It features local farmers and artisans.

Gowanda VFW Post 5007 chicken and rib barbecue

The Gowanda VFW, 20 Sandhill Road, will hold a Weidner’s chicken and ribs barbecue dinner from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Each dinner costs $15 and also includes two sides. All COVID-19 regulations will be adhered to.

The Carrier Center, 8665 Erie Road, Angola, will hold this dinner from 3 to 7 p.m. to benefit Career and Technical students who are involved in a variety of programs. Dinners include pulled pork, salt potatoes, coleslaw, roll and butter and cookies. Adults: $10 presale/$12 at the door; youth under 10, $7/$8; seniors $9/$11. For pre-sale tickets, call 549-4454. Can also buy mums, pumpkins and 50/50.

Designer bag bingo Hospic fund-raiser

Designer bag bingo will take place at Lakewood Memorial Post 1286, 174 Chautauqua Ave. Doors open at 6, with the bifrst bingo game at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 each and include 10 bingo cards and a marker. Additional cards and wallet giveaway tickets are $1 each. There is a cash bar and dinner menu available. Participants must be at least 18 years old. Ticets are available online at the Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care website.

The Auxiliary meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Mullet Street Clubroom, Dunkirk.

Dunkirk Elks Lodge bingo will be held at Central Ave. Doors open at 5 p.m. Admission sales begin at 6 p.m. Games start at 7 p.m. Social distancing will be followed. Masks must be worn by those who are not fully vaccinated.

Patterson library presents Author Robyn Albright

At 6:30 p.m., the library, 40 S. Portage St., Westfield, will host author Robin Albright for a discussion of her book “Jump on the Runnin’ Board,” which is a memoir of her father, an man scarred by the Great Depression and WWII, and their relationship over the course of si decades.

Chautauqua County American Legion Auxiliary meeting

Chautauqua County American Legion Auxiliary meeting is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. at the John W. Rogers Post 327 in Westfield. Members are reminded to have a unit representative attend to report 2022 Girls State quotas; donated coffee items will be collected for the UCAN drive for Homeless Veterans; and coupons are appreciated for the overseas troops. Eighth District Auxiliary President Ann Baglio will be a distinguished guest. Members are encouraged to attend and welcome our guest at her county visit.

1891 Fredonia Opera House presents Live at the Met: “Boris Godunov”

Conductor Sebastian Weigle leads Mussorgsky’s masterwork, in its original 1869 version, sung in Russian with English subtitles. General Admission is $20, $18 Opera House members, $10 students.

Stop22 Awareness walk of suicide rate of veterans

The walk is hosted by the Silver Creek VFW, with proceeds benefiting the Homeless Veteran Project. The $1 registration begins at 9 a.m., with the walk starting at 10.

Apple Butter Festival

The West Portland Baptist Church, 7081 E. Route 20, will host its Apple Butter Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Old-fashioned kettle cooked apple butter is available for a donation. There will be food vendors and other vendors. Profits will benefit Nina’s Kitchen Brocton-Portland Food Pantry. Admission is free. All are welcome.

Fredonia Food Pantry

The Fredonia Food Pantry, Fredonia Presbyterian Church, 219 Central Ave., will be open from 10 a.m, to noon. The pantry serves the needs of Fredonia area code 14063, Pomfret, Sheridan and Laona. All guests receive one or more bags of non-perishable food. Number of bags given out depends on family size.

St. John’s United Church of Christ Swiss steak dinner

Villenova Burial Association annual fall meeting

The annual fall meeting of the Villenova Burial Association will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Villenova Town Hall, 1094 Butcher Road., South Dayton.Plan to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. This is a member meeting for anyone who owns a lot or has a family member buried in the Villenova Cemetery….as a member, you are a part of the VBA and responsible for the Cemetery’s future operation and upkeep. This meeting will also involve the election of Trustees for expiring Trustee terms and the yearly election of officers. The present Trustees of the VBA would greatly welcome your attendance at, and participation in, this meeting, as we work to preserve our 200+ year old cemetery!
