Meatloaf dinner

set for Dec. 20

On Saturday Dec. 20, the St. John’s Church is having its Famous Meatloaf Dinner. It will be served from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Eat in or take-out at $13 that includes dessert. The church is located at 733 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Walk-ins are welcome but reservations strongly suggested at 716-366-0710.

Santa to stop in Forestville

FORESTVILLE — Santa Claus is coming to the Forestville Fire Hall on Saturday. He will be there from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be hot cocoa, cookies and treats from Santa. Children can make their own ornaments for their tree. In addition, the Boy Scouts will be selling hot dogs and hamburgers.

‘Shop Local Authors’

event is Saturday

A ‘Shop Local Authors’ event will be at the Next Chapter Bookstore in Fredonia on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Catherine D’Agostino, Rebecca Cuthbert, Nick Smith, and Pauline Chow will sign and sell books, including newly published titles. There will be cookies and gift wrap available as well.

Seniors meet

BROCTON — Brocton-Portland Seniors celebrated the holiday at its Nov. 25 meeting at Tri Church Parish, East Main Street, with President Margaret Jagoda presiding.

Donald Carlson shared a prayer of Thanksgiving and Laurel Giambra led the Pledge of Allegiance with 62 members The Band Check 1.2.3. Cathy, Rick and Matt entertained with songs through the years.

Committee of the Day members thanked were Olive Becker, Edie Seekings, Marilyn Flynt, Debbie Gillis, Sandy Terrill, Jean Jaquith, Patty Farrell and Barb Crandall. They set up and served the St. Stephen’s catered beef on weck, green beans, macaroni and cheese, salads with all the trimmings and desserts of all varieties from members.

Larry Farnham, a new member, was introduced. Twelve veterans were recognized and thanked for their service. Gratitude List was won by Jane Penhollow and Dale Davis won the candy corn count contest.

The election was held by Tom DeJoe and was approved by Clara Wilder and Judy Nixon. The officers for 2026 are President Anita Calcaterra, Vice President Tom DeJoe, Secretary Ruth Neal and Treasurer Judy Moffett.

Anita and Andy Calcaterra celebrated their 44-year anniversary. Birthday celebrations were for Jane Penhollow 94, Mary Matteson, Marilyn Flynt, James Hemmis, Cecelia Filipkowski, Barbara Crandall and Charlotte McDonald.

Door club prizes went to Kathy Doruszewski, Olive Becker, Mary Matteson and Brenda Drummond. There were eight table winners followed by 12 raffle winners. The next meeting is Dec. 30 and the committee is Margaret Jagoda, Linda Riley, Brian Stanton and Rita Bennett. Members must be signed up by Dec. 23 for the Dec. 30 meeting by calling Jagoda 716-792-7385 for reservations. Tom Gestwicki is the end of the year entertainment.

Members must bring their own personal table service. Dues required for the new year.
