Spike in county COVID-19 cases continues as 32 more are announced

A surge of COVID-19 cases continues to plague Chautauqua County. The Health Department reported 32 new cases with 138 active.

The new cases come include: seven from Dunkirk, six from Jamestown, five from Fredonia, four in Lakewood, three in Forestville, two in Silver Creek and one each in Sinclairville, Van Buren Point, Brocton, Kennedy and Panama.

In addition, the hospitalization rate remains at its highest throughout the pandemic with 22 as of Tuesday.

In the north county over the last two weeks, there have been 81 new cases. At least 18 of those have been linked to a private event with seven cases are active and 11 have recovered.

In addition, the south county is facing two new major cases. There are six active cases among employees of and 18 active cases among residents associated with Tanglewood Manor. Eighteen employees and 72 residents associated with this outbreak have recovered.

Another outbreak is among employees of the City of Jamestown Fire Department. There are currently seven active cases, up one from Wednesday.

In all, there have been 887 recovered cases, 13 deaths 1,038 total confirmed cases.
