Dunkirk Fire Department receives federal assistance

Two Chautauqua County Fire Departments have received federal assistance, according to U.S. Rep. Tom Reed, R-Corning, Thursday morning.

The city of Dunkirk Fire Department received $155,304.76 while the village of Falconer Fire Department will get $125,238 in Assistance to Firefighters Grants. The program is administered by the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency alongside the U.S. Fire Administration.

“We recognize the services firefighters carry out every day to keep us safe and secure. Given the important role firefighters play in our communities, we care about making sure our fire departments have fair access to the resources they need,” Reed said. “These grants are crucial to our local fire departments and we were proud to fight for these funds.”
