WESTFIELD — An adult woman was struck and killed by a passing train Thursday afternoon in Westfield.

Few details were available, but Chautauqua County Sheriff James Quattrone confirmed the woman was killed in the incident, which occurred around 3:15 p.m. County 911 dispatch had received word of a person possibly struck, which sparked a search in the area of the tracks that included North Gale Street and around English and Franklin streets.

A body was discovered about 15 minutes after the first call was received.
