JAMESTOWN — A 33-year-old man was killed when his motorcycle struck a sedan head-on early Friday in Jamestown.

The collision occurred on Newland Avenue, between Colfax Street and Chautauqua Avenue, around 5:45 a.m.

Jamestown Police Chief Timothy Jackson said a westbound motorcycle struck an eastbound tan vehicle at a high rate of speed. The motorcyclist was killed in the collision, which caused significant damage to both vehicles.

The driver of the sedan was not injured, Jamestown police said.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team was called to the scene.

Members of the Jamestown Fire Department, Jamestown Police Department, Alstar EMS and Chautauqua County EMS all responded to Newland. A county coroner was also summoned.

More information will be released when it becomes available.
