Traffic stop in city leads to charges for pair
Two individuals are facing charges after a traffic stop early Friday in the city of Dunkirk.
Dunkirk Police reported on Wednesday morning that officers stopped a vehicle in area of Leopard Street and East Fifth Street around 2 a.m. The operator, identified as Angelica Arroyo, was found to be operating the vehicle without a driver’s license. A subsequent search of the vehicle located a quantity of crack cocaine and a loaded .9-caliber handgun. During the investigation the passenger, Wilfredo Rodriguez-Pizarro, 40, attempted to flee the scene on foot.
Officers were able to take Rodriguez-Pizarro into custody without incident. Further investigation found that Rodriguez-Pizarro did not have a license to legally possess the handgun.
Arroyo, 40, and Rodriguez-Pizarro were transported to Dunkirk Police Headquarters where Rodriguez-Pizarro was held pending arraignment. Arroyo was released on an appearance ticket and scheduled to be in Dunkirk City Court at later date.
