JAMESTOWN — A sweep of three Jamestown homes late last week led to the recovery of a loaded weapon and drugs, along with a host of charges for several area residents.

Members of the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force on Friday executed search warrants at 433 Allen St., 341 Forest Ave. and 38 Bowen St. The task force was assisted by members of the city’s SWAT team and the county’s SWAT team.

The first search occurred around 1 p.m. at the Allen Street residence and resulted in the discovery of a loaded 9mm handgun with a defaced serial number. Shortly after entry was made on Allen, 18-year-old Jaquez L. Thomas fled the area but was taken into custody a few blocks away, the department said Monday in a news release.

Thomas was charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree obstructing governmental administration. He was committed to Chautauqua County Jail before posting bail, the department said.

Around the same time, the Sheriff’s Office SWAT team made entry into the Forest Avenue residence. A search turned up more than 100 grams of crack cocaine and 380 grams of methamphetamine, as well as “scales and packaging materials believed to be used for the distribution of drugs, and U.S. Currency believed to be the proceeds of illicit drug sales,” JPD said.

Jose L. Maisonet III, 28, was transported to Jamestown City Jail on charges of second- and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Maisonet was arraigned and committed to jail without bail.

The third search warrant was then executed on Bowen Street. A 16-year-old wanted by police was taken into custody near the property. According to the department, the youth was wanted on a second-degree attempted assault charge stemming from an incident in which he “shot an officer in the face and eye with an Orbeez Gun while on a call for service.”

Orbeez is a toy gun that shoots gel balls.

The youth’s parent, 45-year-old Ronquike E. Maisonet, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child for failure to exercise control over a minor, JPD said.

Police also were assisted Friday by the Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Jamestown Fire Department and Chautauqua County Emergency Services Tactical Medical Team.
