City man charged in stolen vehicle, narcotics

A 47-year-old Dunkirk man is being held on a long list of charges stemming from a report of a stolen motor vehicle.
At approximately 6:34 p.m. Monday, William R. Eppinger of Bataan Avenue was observed by Dunkirk police officers operating a stolen motor vehicle on Ruggles Street in the city. When officers attempted to stop Eppinger, he fled the vehicle and was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.
Along with the stolen vehicle, Eppinger was also found to be in possession of a quantity of narcotics. He was charged with felony second-degree criminal mischief, felony fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, second-degree obstruction of government administration, second-degree reckless endangerment, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and numerous violations. He was transported to the Dunkirk Police Department and is currently being held at the Chautauqua County Jail.
