SHERIDAN — Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies responded Route 5 and Harrington Road in the town of Sheridan on Monday for a motor vehicle accident with injury. After an investigation, it was found that a vehicle being operated westbound by Alex D. Wirfel, 18, of Hamburg, had traveled into the path of a vehicle being operated eastbound by David P. Pompietlasz, 63, of Sheridan. Wirfel failed to yield the right of way on a left hand turn. The result of which was a head-on collision. Both parties were transported by EMS personnel from the scene for apparent non-life threatening injuries.

Wifrel was issued an appearance ticket for failure to yield right of way and will appear in the Town of Sheridan Court at a later date. No additional charges are pending at this time.
