Northern Chautauqua County Club Associates meet

The Northern Chautauqua County Club Associates recently held their regular monthly meeting at the Brocton Legion Post 434, W. Main St. in Brocton.

The meeting was opened with the pledge of allegiance, followed by a moment of silence for all deceased members, for the victims of recent mass shootings, and for Stella and Darlene Michalak, who were good friends, and regular attendees of Club Associates meetings.

The group was welcomed by Cmdr. Henry Link of the Post.

All member clubs were in attendance.

Secretary Jim Pryll read the minutes of the previous meeting and treasurer Tom Halicki gave the financial report.

Mr. Link spoke about sending young people to Boys State, and how clubs should support efforts to send local young men to the program.

Also discussed were training seminars for club, tavern, and restaurant owners, managers and servers. Covered at these seminars are laws of the NYS Liquor Authority, and the NYS Gaming Commission. Those in attendance who have been to these seminars spoke highly of them. Mr. Link mentioned that the Brocton Post would be willing to host one of these seminars there or in another Legion Post. All were encouraged to send club officers, stewards, and bartenders to one of these sessions.

President Joe Rozen reminded the group how important it was to get out and vote on election day. He also reminded everyone that any new club that is interested in joining the association get free dues the first year.

Upcoming events included several meat and turkey parties at several clubs.

The next meeting of the Association will be held on Nov. 18 at the Fredonia Beaver Club. Members of any club are invited to attend.
