Council to discuss sewer rates for large businesses

Sewer rates for large businesses both in and out of the city limits might see a slight rate change at the Dunkirk Common Council meeting taking place Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall.

Other items under consideration will include:

¯ A resolution to name the Point Gratiot Main pavilion to Brooks Locomotive Works pavilion.

¯ A resolution to change the master electrician test whereas candidates will no longer be given a test by the electrical board and instead have candidates receive their licensing by the International Codes Council.

¯ A request for permits by Tim Wdowiasz on behalf of the First Ward Falcon Club to use Promenschenkel Stadium and Kochs fields for their Early Bird Fast Pitch Softball Tournament on May 11 and then host their 44th annual Fast Pitch Softball Tournament on July 19-21; David and Kathleen Woodward on behalf of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to host a motorcycle blessing on May 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the large pavilion at Point Gratiot; Officer Darren McIntyre and Sgt. Mark Gruber on behalf of the the city of Dunkirk Police Benevolent Association for use of Lakefront Boulevard for the second annual Hazelton 5K to be held on July 14 and a request from Gregory Nelson and Laura Wood to use a part of Wright Park Beach for their wedding on Aug. 16 at 6 p.m.

¯ Claims by Richard Gloss for damages allegedly caused when the city sewer backed up in his basement on Dec. 31 and Marilys Arroyo for damages to her vehicle allegedly caused by a falling tree on Feb. 13 on Swan Street.

¯ Loudspeaker applications from Alex Davis to have a band and use stereo equipment at the large pavilion at Point Gratiot for a wedding reception on July 20 from 2-4 p.m and from Luis Fred on behalf of Marksmen Veterans Group to have a band at the Hose 4 Grounds at Point Gratiot on June 22 from 2-6 p.m.
