Gallery seeks women artists for local event
JAMESTOWN — “Women Create” invites women to submit work for consideration for its fourth juried exhibit of women’s art at the 3rd On 3rd Gallery at the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts in Jamestown.
Applications are being accepted from women of all ages in any media, and artists from within 100 miles of Jamestown. This exhibition aims to celebrate the diversity of art being made by women artists in the region and to showcase the wide range of art and fine craft being created.
The guest juror this year will be Western New York native and Philadelphia-based artist Rise Peacock. She holds a masters in fine arts from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, a bachelors in fine arts from Alfred University and an associates degree from Jamestown Community College. Peacock is a past fellowship recipient from Haystack Mountain School of Crafts and a scholarship winner from American Association of University Women and the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass.
Artists may submit up to three works in any media for consideration. This call closes Feb. 28 and accepted artists will be notified no later than March 2. Work must be delivered to the gallery between March 5-8.
The exhibition will open to the public on March 12. A public reception for the artists for the exhibit will be on March 15. The gallery takes a 20 percent commission on sales and all artists are required to sign an exhibition contract and provide a W-9 for tax purposes.
