Saturday ride leads to trouble for Frewsburg man

CARROLL — A 56-year-old Frewsburg man’s attempted getaway in two vehicles that did not belong to him led to damages and charges.

Just after midnight on Sunday, Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies responded to the Carroll Rod and Gun Club for a property damage motor vehicle accident. It is alleged that at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Craig Zinger entered another club member’s vehicle unlawfully and attempted to leave the location.

While exiting the parking lot, the vehicle Zinger was operating struck another vehicle causing damage to both vehicle involved. Zinger then left the scene of the accident in another member’s vehicle.

Zinger was issued an appearance ticket and traffic tickets to appear in the town of Carroll Court to answer to the charges of third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and leaving the scene of a property damage motor vehicle accident.

≤ SHERIDAN — On May 8, at roughly 11:53 p.m., deputies allegedly observed a vehicle operating with less than two headlights on South Roberts Road.

Deputies stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Charles E. Simpson, 38, of Forestville.

Following an investigation, deputies arrested Simpson and charged him with DWI, DWI per se and operating a motor vehicle with less than two headlights.

Simpson will answer the charges in Sheridan Town Court at a later date.

≤ ARKWRIGHT — On May 12, deputies received a report of a violation of an order of protection. Upon further investigation, deputies determined that Shaina E. Love, 28, of Cassadaga, allegedly violated an order of protection and prevented the victim from leaving a residence for an unspecified period of time.

Love was later arrested on an arrest warrant and was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and second-degree harassment.

Love is being held in Chautauqua County Jail pending arraignment and will appear in Arkwright Town Court at a later date.

≤ ELLERY — On May 12, at about 2:30 a.m., deputies stopped a motorcycle on Route 430 for an observed traffic violation.

The operator was identified as Tyler L. McMaster, 44, of Bemus Point. McMaster was allegedly found to be operating the vehicle with revoked driving privileges.

A female passenger was also identified as Kristin L. Raymond, 36, of Jamestown. Raymond was reportedly found to be wanted by Jamestown Police with bench warrants for six misdemeanor charges.

McMaster was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and following too closely, and was released with citations.

Raymond was turned over to Jamestown Police.

≤ ELLERY — On May 12, at around 2:25 a.m., deputies observed a vehicle allegedly speeding on Route 430.

Deputies stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Jason C. Brunecz, 25, of Jamestown. Following an investigation into the incident, deputies arrested Brunecz and charged him with DWI, aggravated DWI and speed in zone.

Brunecz will answer the charges in Ellery Town Court at a later date.

≤ CHAUTAUQUA — On May 14, at about 2:21 a.m., deputies responded to an address on Plank Road to the report of an alleged physical altercation between two subjects. After an investigation,

Ryan Eddy, 25, of Mayville, was charged with second-degree unlawful imprisonment and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation.

Eddy was transported to Chautauqua County Jail under the centralized arraignment procedure and will answer the charges in Chautauqua Town Court on a later date.

Evans Police

¯ On May 11, at roughly 4:11 p.m., patrol was investigating an injury and property damage accident on Versailles Plank Road at Pontiac and Cain roads. While Versailles Plank Road was shut down, a blue Chevy S10 Blazer approached the victim, who was directing traffic.

According to the victim, the vehicle stopped and the unidentified operator stated he lived on Versailles Plank Road and wanted to pass through. The victim asked the operator for his address, which the operator could not provide. After multiple requests, the vehicle went through the road block. At that point, the victim reached into the vehicle and grabbed the operator’s seat belt, and was dragged approximately 10 feet. The victim sustained minor arm and knee injuries and was transported to ECMC after an evaluation by AMR.

The area was canvassed for the vehicle with negative results.

¯ On May 11, at about 8:30 p.m., patrol stopped a vehicle on Mill Street for having lights that didn’t meet standards. After running the restricted use license of the driver, Connor M. Obrien, 22, of Blasdell, it was allegedly discovered to be suspended.

Obrien was placed under arrest and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and motor vehicle lights don’t meet standards.

Obrien’s vehicle was impounded and he was transported to Evans Police Department for booking, where he was later released with traffic tickets.

New York State Police

≤ RANDOLPH – On May 15, troopers pulled over a vehicle on I-86 for speeding.

While speaking to the driver, Jacob Poucher, 32, of Novelty, Ohio, troopers allegedly smelled marijuana emanating from inside of the vehicle. A search of Poucher and his vehicle revealed a bottle containing marijuana.

Poucher was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, issued an appearance ticket and a speeding ticket and is scheduled to appear in the town of Randolph Court on a later date.
