Dunkirk Farmers Market pre-season meeting set
This Tuesday, the Dunkirk Farmers Market will host a pre-season meeting for current and prospective vendors, entertainers and participating community organizations. The meeting will run from 6 to 7 p.m. at the SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator (214 Central Ave., Dunkirk).
Vendors may include farmers offering locally-raised produce, meat, eggs and dairy; bakers; value-added product producers; artisans; beekeepers and maple syrup producers; prepared food vendors; nurseries; and more. “I look forward to meeting with our returning vendors, as well as individuals who are considering joining the Market this season. I am also looking forward to introducing our new Market Manager, Kevin Luce to our vendors.” says Edward “EJ” Hayes, Deputy Director of Planning & Development Director.
Continuing in 2019, the market will again have funds to pay musicians/entertainers to perform at the market. We welcome all performers to apply.
Again this year, the Market will offer the opportunity for community organizations to be spotlighted at their own Market Day. Community organizations are invited to sign up to host an informational table.
At the pre-season meeting, attendees will meet with representatives of the Dunkirk Farmers Market and the Dunkirk Local Development Corporation (DLDC) to discuss new ideas for 2019. Market applications and rules will be distributed, and questions about eligibility will be addressed. Facilitators will invite dialogue about the 2019 promotional plan, and solicit feedback about making the Dunkirk Farmers Market as accessible and convenient as possible for Dunkirk residents.
The Dunkirk Farmers Market will take place every Wednesday from June 12 to Oct. 16, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the Dunkirk Senior Center on Ruggles Street, rain or shine. The Market may extend through Oct. 30, weather permitting. If unable to attend the meeting but interested in receiving an application, contact EJ Hayes, Dunkirk Farmers Market at 366-9876 or ehayes@cityofdunkirk.com
