The Rotary Club of Dunkirk-Fredonia has announced that the 55th Annual Fly-In Breakfast will be held on Sunday, July 7 from 8.a.m. to noon at the Chautauqua County Airport / Dunkirk at 3389 Middle Road in Dunkirk.

The annual event is a well-established tradition in the community and draws over 1,200 patrons annually. Pilots of private planes from throughout Western New York and northwest Pennsylvania region fly in to the airport each year on the first or second Sunday of July and display their aircraft for visitors to examine up close and personal. Vintage and experimental aircraft are expected again this year. Airplane and helicopter rides will again be available from private pilots.

This year, the event will again feature an arts, crafts, and vendor fair in one of the hangers. Table space is also available for area non-profit agencies for a nominal fee. A basket raffle will also be featured. Application forms for vendor/table space is available by emailing dunkirkfredoniarotaryclub@gmail.com or by visiting the Facebook page of the Dunkirk-Fredonia Rotary Club. Space is assigned on a first-come, first served basis.

The menu for the all-you can eat breakfast will include scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, juice, coffee,decaf, water and milk. The cost is $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children 12 and under. Breakfast is served from 8 a.m. to noon or until supplies run out. Tickets will be available starting June 15 from member Rotarians and at the door.

Major Corporate Sponsors for the event are Lake Shore Savings Bank, DFT Communications, and the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Assistance for the project is being provided by various departments of Chautauqua County, Squadron NY-351 of the Civil Air Patrol, and Culligan Water Service.

The Chautauqua County Airport in Dunkirk, also known as the John J. Nalbone Sr. Field, has been given the code KDKK by the The International Air Transport Association. It is one of two airports owned by Chautauqua County; the other airport is located in Jamestown.

The Dunkirk-Fredonia Rotary Club has over 60 members and is completing its second full year of operations as a merged club. Prior to 2017, the annual Fly-In breakfast was a project of the Dunkirk Rotary Club. The Dunkirk-Fredonia Club is part of Rotary International, the largest and oldest service organization in the world. There are 33,000 Rotary Clubs in 200 countries, with more than 1.2 million members worldwide.

The annual Fly-In breakfast is the largest and most complex project taken on by the club each year. Proceeds from the event will benefit scholarships for graduating seniors at Dunkirk High School and Fredonia High School and variety of area charities local service projects.
