Andrew Bennett, Fredonia Music Department instructional leader, has been selected as a 2020 Grammy Music Educator Award Quarterfinalist.

Fredonia Music Department Instructional Leader Mr. Andrew Bennett has been selected as a 2020 Grammy Music Educator Award Quarterfinalist. This is his second time progressing to the quarterfinalist stage.

More than 3,300 initial nominations from around the country were submitted, and only 189 teachers were selected this year as quarterfinalists. The award recognizes educators who have made lasting contributions to the field of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of growing and maintaining strong music education programs in our nation’s schools.

“It is an honor to be listed among this prestigious group of music educators,” Bennett said. “We have a vibrant music program here at Fredonia, and I am looking forward to using the next steps of this process to highlight the achievements of our student musicians and community.”

The list of quarterfinalists will be narrowed down to 15 semifinalists in September. From those semifinalists, 10 finalists will be chosen, and then one nominee will be declared the 2020 Grammy Music Educator of the Year at the 62nd Grammy Awards on Jan. 26, 2020 in Los Angeles.
