Library’s summer writing contest under way

BROCTON — The Town of Portland’s Ahira Hall Memorial Library is proud to announce its 2019 Summer Writing Contest. Writers may submit in person at the library 37 W. Main St. in Brocton (including in drop box if not open), through the mail at P.O. Box Q, Brocton 14716, or email to ad.ahml@hotmail.com through July 31.

Two categories are featured: Short Story (less than 3,000 words) and Poetry. The contest is open to all ages, however is being anonymously judged by adults, who are teaching professionals. There is no submission fee. Name and contact information must be submitted with each piece of work.

Winners will be announced at the 2019 Summer Writing Contest Award Ceremony on Wednesday evening, Aug. 21, at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to contribute and submit. This is a wonderful opportunity to participate in a fun process of writing, imagining, and creating.
