Volunteers make things happen

Chamber Corner

So many organizations rely on volunteers to get things done, and our Chambers of Commerce are no exception. From board meetings to community events, volunteers who step up for the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce and our six Community Chambers make a genuine difference for everyone.

The Chamber has numerous volunteer opportunities available for events coming up. The Westfield-Barcelona Community Chamber of Commerce can use volunteers to assist with its popular First Friday street fair events each month during the summer. The Dunkirk Community Chamber can use volunteers for a variety of events including assistance during Music on the Pier each summer. The Fredonia Community Chamber is making An Evening in Barker Common a routine part of its summer repertoire and also needs volunteers for other special events throughout the year. The Hanover Community Chamber can use a few volunteers to help sell maps during its annual Silver Creek Yard Sales coming up in early August. The Jamestown Community Chamber has its annual Cruise-In coming up in August and volunteers are always welcome to assist with setting up, tearing down, running games, and more. The Mayville-Chautauqua Community Chamber seeks dozens of volunteers for its annual Winter Festival in February. The Chautauqua County Chamber can use a few volunteers for its annual Golf Tournament in August.

In addition, the Chautauqua County Chamber partners with the Manufacturers Association of the Southern Tier on a Public Policy Committee. This group meets year-round to help form policy statements and meet advocacy objectives that are meaningful for our local business community.

All of the work done by our County and Community Chambers is informed and supported by volunteers. Our mission is to create a business environment in the region where our members can thrive, and that volunteer input and effort is crucial. If you would like to volunteer for the Chamber in any way, please call our offices at (716) 366-6200 or (716) 484-1101 and ask how you can get involved. Thank you.

Congratulations on another strong PGA event

Congratulations to all involved for a fourth consecutive year of the LECOM Health Challenge at Peek’n Peak! This great event has been the result of an extraordinary effort on the part of sponsors, countless volunteers, Peek’n Peak, PGA tour organizers, and the Chautauqua Regional Economic Development Corporation. It has drawn thousands of spectators to a tremendous Chautauqua County venue. We were proud to play a small role in helping to establish a presence during the event to help guide visitors to other Chautauqua County attractions and businesses. Working with the Chautauqua County Visitors Bureau and the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation, we collaborated in staffing a visitor’s tent adjacent to the golf course. Our staff and volunteers answered a variety of questions, provided information, and helped to keep the rest of Chautauqua County in the public eye during this four day tournament. The cooperation of all involved resulted in a smooth and enjoyable experience for visitors, sponsors, volunteers, and golfers.
