OBSERVER Photo by Jo Ward The Hazelton Dog Park, located at 855 Main St. Extension awaits large and small dogs alike as the city of Dunkirk readies for the ribbon cutting on Friday. The park is currently open to the public.

Dunkirk Mayor Wilfred Rosas is pleased to announce that the Hazelton Dog Park, located at 855 Main St. Extension in the city of Dunkirk is ready for your four- legged friends.

“The work that has gone into the developing and now opening of the dog park has truly been a labor of love,” Rosas said. “Matt Hazelton left us just two years ago, but his memory will remain and the Hazelton Dog Park will stand as a forever remembrance of Matt, his love of animals and the residents of this city. I could not be more pleased to invite all of our residents out to our ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, Aug. 30 at 3 p.m. for the official ribbon cutting ceremony.”

On behalf of Mayor Rosas and the City of Dunkirk Planning & Development Department a very special thanks goes to all of those volunteers, city employees and sponsors who helped to make this dog park possible.
