Chris Campbell, a worker for the city of Dunkirk, was presented with a certificate of recognition from Mayor Wilfred Rosas, for the rescue of a young girl that took place on July 1. According to Rosas at the Dunkirk Common Council meeting Monday, the girl was heard screaming, having caught her hand and fingers in a garage door. While others on the scene were trying to help, Campbell took charge of the situation, lifting the child, while others at the scene manually lifted the door freeing her. Once free, Campbell then took her back to her home and administered medical care before handing her over to her grandmother.
