OBSERVER Staff Report

An area high school football player’s legacy continues to be remembered in the community.

Sept. 13 marked the sixth anniversary of the date Damon Janes, 16, was injured in a football game while playing with the Westfield-Brocton team. Three days later, on Sept. 16, he succumbed to his injuries.

One of his grandmothers, Linda Janes, has asked friends and community members to remember the Brocton boy with memories in a Pay It Forward act through Monday. Notes can be sent to her in an e-mail at ljanes@broctoncsd.org. “Please share in acts of kindness and share your experience or keep anonymity,” the family requested. #Damonspayitforward #Nevergiveup

Damon was the son of Penny Gilbert and Dean Janes of Brocton.
