Collins Library lists October events

¯ Pumpkin Coloring Contest: Now through Saturday, Oct. 26. Ages Preschool through 5th grade. Stop by the Library to pick up your picture to color. Prizes drawn Oct. 28. For more info, call 532-5129 or stop by the Collins Library at 2341 Main St.

¯ Quilting with Florence: Wednesdays, 10 a.m .to 2 p.m. Join these knowledgeable ladies as they work on projects.

¯ Library Board Meeting: Thursday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. Open to the public. All are welcome!

¯ Toddler Time: The next 3 week session of Toddler Time begins Friday, Oct. 4 at 10:30 am. Read stories, play games, sing songs and have a snack. Ages 2 to 5. Call or stop in to register!

¯ Senior Movie: Friday, Oct. 4 at 1 p.m. Come for a movie and popcorn. Co-Sponsored by the 50+ seniors. Call the Library for the title of the movie.

¯ Music in the Library Concert Series: Join us Friday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. for the final concert of the year with country and western swing performance by The Skiffle Minstrels. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

¯ Erie Canal on Tour – Nancy Goes to Seneca Falls: Saturday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. Nancy shares stories and songs about life as a slave, and her new life as a free woman on the Canal. Performer, author and poet Annette Daniels Taylor has created Nancy’s story as an otherwise not often considered aspect of Erie Canal heritage. Come enjoy this all-ages program!

¯ Lap Sit with Miss Abbie: Mondays, Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28 at 10:30 a.m. Join us for this fun program for children ages 6 months to 2 years with a caregiver. A great introduction to early literacy skills with rhymes, finger plays, music, stories and more. Sign up required.

¯ Craft Club: Monday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. Come and make crafts in the Library. This month’s theme will be Halloween. Ages 4 to 12. Registration is required.

¯ Young Adult Craft Club: Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 6:30 pm. Make crafts in the Library. Ages 13 and up. All materials provided. Registration required.

¯ Evening Book Club: Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 5:30 p.m. Discuss “The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry” by Rachel Joyce. Request a copy on line or stop by the Library Desk. Call or stop by if you are interested.

¯ Tech Trainer: Call the Library for available topics, dates and times. Want some help getting started with tech, learn to use the 3D Printer or try Virtual Reality? Call to set up a one-on-one appointment.

¯ Library of Things Kickoff! Thursday, Oct. 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. Help kick off the Library of Things. Come and see what else you can borrow from the Library besides books!

¯ Tinkering in the Library! Saturday, Oct. 12 at 12 p.m. With different rotating activities each month, there will be new things to explore. Fun for the whole family. Stop by or call to sign up.

¯ Design A Monster Engineering Challenge: Monday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. Ages 3 to 12. Come and build your very own Monster creations! All crafting material provided for this STEM activity. Sign up is requested.

¯ Young Adult Art Club: Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m. Love to draw, paint and create? Then this is for you! This club will meet to learn about illustration and publishing. Ages 10 to 20. Sketchbooks and materials will be provided. Stop in to register.

¯ Young Adult Book Club: Thursday, Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. Discuss “Gregor the Overlander” by Suzanne Collins. Ages 13 and up. Request a copy online or at the Library Desk.

¯ YA Role Playing Games Club: Saturday, Oct. 19, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sign up is in the library, and fills up fast. Don’t miss out on the chance to slay the forces of evil, discover treasure, and have a blast! Ages 12 to 18. Lunch and snacks provided. Let the library know if you need special accommodations.

¯ Morning Book Club: Monday, Oct. 21 at 11 a.m. Discuss “Miss Kopp Just Won’t Quit” by Amy Stewart. Request a copy online or at the Library Desk.

¯ Decorate Your Own Storybook Pumpkin: Monday, Oct. 21 at 5:30 p.m. Ages 3 to 12. Pumpkins and a select amount of crafting materials will be provided. Feel free to bring your own material for a special character. Limit one pumpkin per participant. Sign up required by Oct. 14.

¯ LEGO Club: Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 6:30 p.m. Come and play with LEGOs in the Library. We will put your creation on display in the Library. Ages 4 to 12. Registration required, call or stop in.

¯ Don’t Let the Pigeon Have a Library Program: Thursday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. Join us as we celebrate our favorite bird with stories, crafts and games. Ages 3 to 6. Registration required.

¯ Book a Tech Trainer: Friday, Oct. 25 from 2 to 5 p.m. Need computer assistance? We can help! These free 45 minute sessions are designed to assist with software support or internet training. Open to Library patrons age 17 and above. Call the Library for more information and available times.

¯ Creative Crafts for Adults: Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. All materials are provided but registration is limited. Ages 18+ please.

¯ Graham Cracker Halloween Houses: Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 5:30 p.m. Open to ages 2 to 12. Make your very own Halloween house out of chocolate graham crackers, and various Halloween themed candies! All materials are provided. Sign up required by Tuesday, Oct. 22.
