Dunkirk looking for businesses to take part in Small Business Saturday

The City of Dunkirk’s Planning and Development Department is seeking local businesses to participate in Small Business Saturday activities on Nov. 30. Small Business Saturday is a national celebration that encourages shoppers to patronize local stores.

“Local businesses are so important to Dunkirk’s economy,” said Planning and Development Director Rebecca Wurster. “Every dollar spent at a local business provides a much greater economic impact than a dollar spent at a non-local business, which helps create jobs and increases our tax base. Small Business Saturday is a great opportunity to highlight the amazing small businesses in our community.”

Local businesses are encouraged to have promotions, special events, or workshops to draw shoppers into their stores. The Planning and Development Department will create and distribute marketing materials to encourage shopping at participating businesses and will host an event on Nov. 30 at D&F Plaza to celebrate Small Business Saturday.

Businesses that wish to participate, either at their own store or as a vendor at the event at D&F Plaza, should contact Community Development Planner Jill Meaux at 366-9878 or jmeaux@cityofdunkirk.com.
