Eckman announces re-election campaign

Ann Eckman

Ann Eckman is pleased to announce her candidacy for re-election to the position of councilwoman for the Pomfret Town Board. She is a member of the Independence Party and is also endorsed by the Republican and Conservative Parties.

“I believe that this is an exciting time for not only the town of Pomfret, but the entire northern Chautauqua County area,” she stated. “The building of the Athenex complex is progressing, additional retail, professional and service businesses are opening in the area and there is a feeling of optimism in the air. While sometimes change is difficult and uncomfortable, I see it all as potential for growth and financial stability for the region.

“Balancing the needs of the community while managing the tax burden will continue to be a difficult process. We have to provide services that are essential to our residents, ensure our infrastructure is adequate all while being aware that many residents are unable to continue pay increasing costs. We want people to move here, stay here, work here and flourish here.”

Having lived in Chautauqua County for nearly all of her life, she is very familiar with the local area, the needs of the residents and businesses. After working in Buffalo for several years, she accepted a position with Lake Shore Savings Bank. She is currently employed as the Loan Servicing Department Manager in the corporate offices.

“Serving the town of Pomfret to me means giving back in many different ways,” Eckman explained. “I am very active in the local community where I am able to interact with residents, businesses’ and visitors. My volunteer activities include: Fredonia Chamber of Commerce board, RO Foundation board member, Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation Grants Committee Member, Festivals Fredonia Volunteer and a Fredonia Visitors Booth Volunteer. I also volunteer time for the Mikey’s Way Foundation and the Van Miller Scholarship Tournament. I, and my family, are members of Holy Trinity Parish in Dunkirk where I am a Eucharist Minister.

“I am looking forward to continuing to serve the residents of the town of Pomfret and working with the surrounding villages, cities, towns and the county as a whole, to do what is best for the residents.”

Eckman lives in the village of Fredonia with her husband, Peter. They have one son, Jacob, who recently graduated from Clarkson University with a degree in engineering and Management and is currently employed by Precision Castparts, Inc. as a process engineer.
