JAMESTOWN – All are invited to join Audubon Community Nature Center (ACNC) in celebrating and honoring the people who have connected the community to nature.

Audubon Remembers, an opportunity to both remember the past and plant for the future, is Saturday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Jamestown chapter of the Audubon Society was founded in 1957 by a group of individuals who were inspired by the wonder of nature. It was their dream to create a place where local residents could come and learn about the many natural treasures found in our own backyards.

Since that founding, Audubon Community Nature Center has become an indispensable part of the local community, providing environmental education programs for all ages.

Who was it that nurtured your connection to nature? Was it a parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle, camp counselor, teacher, or child?

On this Saturday before Thanksgiving, you can gather to remember the people who encouraged you and others to explore the great outdoors.

The schedule for the event is:

10 to 11 a.m. – Guided Reflections with Samsara Yoga Center

11 a.m. to noon – Audubon Remembers (remarks and planting)

noon to 1 p.m. – Potluck Lunch

1 to 2 p.m. – Stay for conversation, a craft activity, hiking, and exploring the Nature Center

The program begins with a Guided Reflections Walk through the beauty of Audubon, a time to notice how elements of nature reflect your own experiences and remember the lives of those you love. The walk is led by Samsara Yoga Center co-owner Karen Hansen, who also teaches at Chautauqua Institution during the summer.

Next will be brief remarks remembering those who have inspired your nature connections, followed by a planting of daffodil bulbs in their honor.

A potluck lunch follows the planting.

This event is free.

Reservations are appreciated by Wednesday, Nov. 20, and can be made by calling 569-2345 or going to AudubonCNC.org/Program and clicking “Current Schedule.”

Walk-ins are welcome.
