SILVER CREEK — The Silver Creek Key Club has traditionally offered a Halloween Party for elementary-age children for many years. Three years ago, the Key Club expanded this event by collaborating with the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) of Silver Creek Central School District to add “Trick or Treating in the Halls.” Nearly 300 children, along with their families, spent Thursday evening, Oct. 24, at the school trick-or-treating, making crafts, playing games and at a sensory exploration table, enjoying cider and donuts, choosing a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch, and visiting the haunted house.

Attendees were asked for a suggested donation that covered all activities. Candy and non-edible treats, along with cider, Tim Bits, mini cookies, and paper products were donated by local businesses including Tim Horton’s of Irving, Save A Lot of Silver Creek, Tops of Silver Creek, Mia Bella’s Consignment Boutique, The Sky’s The Limit, Just My Imagination Workshop: Parties & More, Guarcello’s Plumbing and Heating, Lakeside Precision, TPS, The Chautauqua Children’s Gym, Pro Oil, Nickels, Parents As Teachers, Napa Silver Creek, Sunset Bay Restaurant, Aunt Millie’s, Overstocked, Add Lumber of Irving, Tim Horton’s/Clark Holdings, Ellie’s Deli, community members, families, and teachers.

This event could not have been pulled off without the at least 50 volunteers which included Key Club, Builders Club, National Honor Society, PTSA, and other community members along with all the donors. All proceeds are being donated by the Key Club to Trick or Treat for UNICEF. The Key Club was also scheduled to assist Knights Against Cancer prepare a meal at The Kevin Guest House in Buffalo and also serve as judges at the annual Kiwanis Halloween Costume Contest at the Backline on Halloween.
