Cassadaga launches comprehensive plan update process

CASSADAGA — The village of Cassadaga, through its Planning Board, has started a community input process to assist the village in updating its five to 10-year comprehensive plan.

An initial web-based survey was launched on cassadaganewyork.org for residents and non-residents to share their vision with the committee.

A paper version will also be available to all village residents along with the water bills that will go out at the end of May. The survey seeks ideas in support of development in the following areas: industry, agriculture, housing, business, tourism, recreation, conservation and community image.

“Cassadaga is a seasonal, historic and tranquil community with many natural and economic assets,” said Mayor William Dorman. “It’s our goal to develop a community-based plan that protects our current environment and helps to develop future opportunities to grow its vitality and the quality of life it provides.”

Deadline for responses is Monday, June 15. Completed written surveys can be dropped off at the village offices or returned by mail at PO Box 286, 22 Mill Street, Cassadaga, NY 14718. Surveys can also still be completed online.

“We have been receiving a tremendous response to the online survey and hope to continue to generate more ideas and data to complete the comprehensive vision,” Dorman said. “We know these are challenging times for our families, businesses and community overall. We intend for this plan to help provide positive direction and movement toward the future.”
