Fire damages Liberty Street home

Crews douse the fire at 60 Liberty St. in Fredonia on Wednesday.

Fredonia firefighters quickly extinguished a blaze at 60 Liberty St. that started around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday.

The two-story residential structure had smoke showing from the front side of the building as firefighters arrived. The fire was found inside the kitchen on the first floor with minor extension into adjacent rooms.

The blaze was knocked down quickly and crews remained on scene for overhaul. No injuries occurred and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

While crews were on the scene, Liberty Street was closed to traffic from Water Street to Porter Avenue. Fredonia Police and Alstar Ambulance assisted.
