United Way fundraising campaign underway

The United Way has officially begun its 2020 fundraising campaign, hoping to raise $1.45 million for the county.

The Northern and Southern United Way offices have teamed up for the first year ever to raise money for all that they do for local communities. According to Adam Dolce, Executive Director, this campaign is the primary vehicle to raise money to make a difference in the community. These things include health education, financial stability, paying their partners to do the work they do, and many more things that rely on donations from the community to give back to the community.

“If people donate just one dollar a week, they won’t really notice it missing from their paycheck,” Dolce said. “Then, if thousands of people do that, we can have a lot of money coming in to support the things we do for the community and reach our goal.”

The campaign runs until the end of the year, but donations usually come in through March of the next year. The goal for the whole county is $1.45 million, but the goal for the north county specifically is $250,000. The whole county has teamed up to kick off the campaign with a very fitting theme for the current global crisis, “United We Rise”. They have teamed in their forces to demonstrate how important being united is.

“No one can solve our community’s most pressing issues and greatest problems alone. United Ways of Chautauqua County unite and provide resources to help every person and family improve their lives.”

Prevention Works of Jamestown has teamed up with United Way to show their support.

To kick off the campaign, the United Ways did a collaborated Zoom call that was also on Facebook, live streaming for all to see. They also worked together to create a video to kick off the campaign, which featured their closest donors, recipients, and others businesses involved in some sort of way.

“United with our community partners, business partners, and volunteers, we rise.”
