A Fredonia property damaged by fire early Thursday had to be demolished.

No injuries were reported after fire broke out at 14 Forest Place around 4:25 a.m. Firefighters from Fredonia, East Dunkirk and Sheridan assisted at the scene, along with Chautauqua County EMS.

The fire originated in the kitchen. The county’s Fire Investigation Team noted that the blaze was caused by an unmaintained electric multi-strip covered with debris.

“Due to structural integrity the building was condemned and had to be demolished,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
