Hanover man faces several felony charges

HANOVER — A Hanover man faces several felony charges after a search warrant was served this morning at his home.

At 7 a.m., members of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force served a search warrant at 965 Henry St., Sunset Bay, Hanover, and found Josue Baez, 32.

Once inside SWAT members allegedly found Baez with a loaded AR-15 rifle next to him while a search of the home allegedly resulted in officers finding narcotics and cash.

Baez was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony; second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class C felony; third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class D felony; fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a class E felony; and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor. Baez was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail for arraignment in the Centralized Arraignment Program.

The investigation is continuing.
