The deadline to submit an application to serve on the steering committee to assist the town of Pomfret and the village of Fredonia Planning Boards in updating their comprehensive plans is quickly approaching. Applications are due by Friday .

The Planning Boards are working together to update the village and town’s comprehensive plans. A comprehensive plan is a document that is developed to set a long-range vision for the community. It evaluates important issues like community and business development, and land use. It can be used to confirm or amend zoning within various areas of the community. It also includes suggested action steps to help the community achieve its goals.

Input from community members is a critical part of the process to develop or update a comprehensive plan. The municipalities are seeking a dedicate group of residents with varied life experiences to provide input, insight and ideas to the Planning Boards. Steering Committee members will be required to commit to attending meetings approximately every six to eight weeks over a two-year period.
