Deanne Manzella running for WACS school board

Deanne K. Manzella is one of four candidates seeking three positions on the Westfield Academy and Central School Board of Education in the upcoming May 18 Budget Vote and Board Member Election. A lifelong Chautauqua County resident, she has lived and owned property in the Westfield District for 33 years.

Deanne has a passion for service to her community and participates in many organizations including her service through The Union Relief Organization, Westfield Women’s Organization, and on the North Lake Family Recreation Board as well as the advisory board for The Westfield Fund. Considered a “labor of love” by her she also served a key committee position for the Darren Manzella-Lapeira Memorial Run for the 5 years it was held. Deanne attends Hurlbut Memorial Community United Methodist Church where she serves as Treasurer. Manzella has been employed as a Financial Services Professional in the area for 38 years.

Service on the Westfield Academy and Central School (WACS) Board of Education started in August of 2014 for Mrs. Manzella who had been active in the school for more than a decade prior to her appointment to the Board. She has served on the personnel, policy and audit/finance committees during her tenure on the board. She is also the Board’s Legislative Liaison for the Chautauqua County School Boards Association. When asked why she wishes to continue her work on the Board she replied: “We have a diverse Board which bring many necessary talents to the table. What we are beginning to lack is longevity and experience. I believe that my time and experience on the board are vital to the continued long-term growth of the district.”

Manzella also noted that, “As a Board member, I see firsthand the many diverse opportunities that our children experience. While it is important to be fiscally responsible, I will always promote a well-rounded education for all students.”

Deanne and her husband Tom have four grown children who have graduated from WACS and are benefiting from the solid education and community environment provided in Westfield. “We have a wonderful school and a fantastic community. We were blessed to be able to raise our children here, where there is so much opportunity. It gave them all a great foundation.”

“I realize that it is extremely important for the school and community to work together, which is why I am privileged to give my time and energy to both. I will also continue to advocate for fiscally responsible budgetary actions. I am asking for your vote on May 18, 2021.” Voting will take place in the WACS gymnasium atrium from noon until 8 p.m.
