Parker talks county involvement with local efforts

Susan Parker, Democratic primary candidate for County Legislature District 4, said she is investigating several issues that she believes should benefit from county involvement.

“County government can be a forceful partner to bring changes and improvements to benefit my Fredonia-Pomfret legislative district and our northern Chautauqua County community,” she said.

Announcing “Water Week,” Parker highlighted her desire to lend county support to the village of Fredonia with respect to its ongoing water supply issues.

“As a county Legislator, I want to work with the village of Fredonia and the city of Dunkirk and the North County Water District to bring about the much-needed Dunkirk-Fredonia water interconnect. The interconnect has been identified as critical infrastructure by study after study,” she said. The interconnect will ensure sufficient and suitable water for the Village of Fredonia and parts of the town of Pomfret when needed. The interconnect should also help the Village increase the value and viability of its reservoir at less cost.

“Further,” she said, “the interconnect will provide redundant protection for the City of Dunkirk and those served by the North County Water District.”

Parker said she will be rolling out her agenda regarding additional substantive issues in the coming weeks, including how the county might assist with redevelopment of The White Inn in Fredonia; and the need for county involvement with the city of Dunkirk and the whole of the north county community respecting redevelopment of the site of the decommissioned NRG plant on Lake Erie.
