Westfield to hold summer reading

WESTFIELD — Upcoming special events under the children’s summer programming include “Reading to Dogs” on Monday from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and “Wondermakers present Animal Tales!”on Aug. 2 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

During “Reading to Dogs” some of the dogs from the Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue will visit story time. “Wondermakers present Animal Tales” will include an in-person interactive show with folk tales about animals, giveaways and a final presentation.

Children may obtain printed instructions on how to win reading prizes in Patterson Park, the children’s area located in the basement of Patterson Library. Children record their time spent reading and may choose prizes from a display case based upon the number of hours they have read.

The next book on the Patterson Library’s Mystery Book Club’s list is “The Searcher” by Tana French, and the meeting to discuss the book is Aug. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Patterson Library’s Reading Room. Patrons may join the club by calling 326-2154. The Best Sellers Reading Group will be resuming Sept. 7 with the book “The Vanishing Half” by Brit Bennett.
