Behavioral health clinic open house set for July 29

The Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene will hold an open house on Friday, July 29 from 9 to 11 a.m. for the new Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic at 60 Franklin Ave. in Dunkirk.

Licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health and state Office of Addiction Services and Supports, the ability to design a new clinic was granted to the county. Designed with consideration of patient utilization and staff delivery of services first, CCBHCs provide wrap-around care, regardless of ability to pay.

The clinics received behavioral health status in 2020 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. This designation means that national standardized best practices, data collection, and specific performance markers are monitored to ensure that clinics provide quality service resulting in good outcomes.

“Our team designed the new facility with the community and staff in mind,” said Clinic Director Tamie Coleman. “We are so excited for our community to see the result of the whole team coming together to bring our vision to life to provide the best care we can. Our main goal is to uphold the (Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene ) mission to provide Timely, Quality, and Accessible Care, and now we get to do so in a state-of-the-art facility.”

The open house will include tours of the facility by staff members and demonstrations of art therapy by members of the peer support team. The clinic will continue to offer mental health and addictions services, including counseling, relapse prevention, mental health care, referrals, group therapy, peer support services, mobile crisis response, care coordination, and more.
