PORTLAND — A dead man was found in near the Corell Creek off Route 20, on the other side of the bridge from the Portland Town Park, at around 2 p.m. Saturday.

“We located a deceased male and we are investigating it at this time,” New York State Police Sergeant Hendrick said. “That’s all we got right now.”

The body was found by someone and they called 911 dispatch. Hendrick added that the body was near the creek, but not in the water. The body is of a white male that is estimated to be in between their 40s and 50s.

A concerned resident pulled over while the OBSERVER arrived and informed the police that a man lived down there. It is not confirmed whether this information was believed to be true.

Jamestown Police confirmed that the body found was not Sean Carpenter, a 35-year-old that has been missing from Jamestown since April 11.

“At this point, we are advised that this finding is not related to our missing,” person case, Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department said.
