Summer events underway at Anderson-Lee Library

SILVER CREEK — If the Anderson-Lee Library isn’t the first place that comes to mind when thinking of summer fun, it should be. The library finished its third week of summer festivities, and there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

The week began with Monday’s visit from Jerry the Geologist, who identified rocks, minerals and fossils that children brought in. As part of the Terrific Tuesday events, Anderson-Lee welcomed the Western NY and PA Organ Grinders, playing “the happiest music on earth” at 4:30 p.m.

In addition to the regularly scheduled Storytime Thursdays, the library hosted folk singer Nan Hoffman at 2 p.m. Every Friday in July, families can enjoy a movie presentation at 12:30 p.m.

Amy O’Connell, the children/young adult program coordinator, is thrilled with this year’s exciting lineup and encourages everyone to take part in these free events. For the first time, the library hosted Yoga Storytime for all ages with Lynda Sandoval of Yoga Underground.

“We had an overwhelming response,” said O’Connell. “We even had two three-generation families join us for the event. We hope to do it again next year!”

The program concludes on Aug. 2 at 6 p.m. with a hot dog roast and the End of Summer Reading Celebration with Mike Randall, senior meteorologist at Buffalo’s WKBW-TV.

O’Connell credits an impressive list of sponsors for the library’s ability to host a wide array of activities nearly every day of the week. The Friends of the Anderson-Lee Library is one of the main sponsors, plus a dozen local companies and individuals, which are posted on Facebook and in the library.

To see the entire schedule, follow Anderson-Lee Library on Facebook and Twitter. All events are free to attend, but registration is required. Call 934-3468 or stop by the library at 43 Main St.
