Literacy Volunteers moving to Fredonia

Submitted Photo The popular Literacy Volunteers bookstore also will be moving to Fredonia.

Special to the OBSERVER

Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County is moving their bookstore and tutoring rooms to 10 and 12 Park Place in Fredonia. The organization has outgrown their current location in Dunkirk and this new location will provide more space and visibility.

Literacy Volunteers will also be able to offer tutoring and training services at the same location.

The organization offers free one-on-one and group tutoring in reading, writing, and math. It also provides English language instruction, basic computer literacy, workplace preparation, and life skills.

Literacy Volunteers will be moving during this month. The current bookstore, located at 21 E. Second St., Dunkirk, will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday to Saturday during the move. On July 18, 19 and 20 most books will be half price. On July 25, 26 and 27 will be a bag sale. Please note that Literacy Volunteers will not be able to accept donations of books until after Aug. 1.

Literacy Volunteers also is looking for volunteers to help pack, move and unpack books. They also need vehicles to transport the books, shelves and other supplies. Those willing to help can call 673-1567.

The new bookstore is scheduled to be open Aug. 1.
