Scout returns to World Pinewood Derby

Submitted Photo Hunter Vincent of Cherry Creek was excited to compete in the World Championship Pinewood Derby this year.

On June 29, Cherry Creek resident Hunter Vincent once again represented the entire Allegheny Highlands Council at the 2019 World Championship Pinewood Derby in Times Square.

Vincent, who was a member of Cub Scout Pack 219, is entering sixth grade at Cassadaga Valley Central School this fall and became a Boy Scout at the end of the school year. This year was the last opportunity for Vincent to participate in the event, as the pinewood derby is only open to cub scout members.

Last year, Vincent competed in the world championship for the first time, which was also his first visit to New York City. He was excited to return this year, and traveled with his dad, James Vincent, sister Chloe, and grandmother Loretta Dean. Vincent ranked 57 out of 146 overall, and was ranked 16 out of 31 in the Weblo 2 pro stock group.

Vincent would like to thank his family and friends for the support, as well as the following businesses/organizations: Barbara Ann’s Hair Salon, Cassadaga Fire Hall, Pizza Village, Sinclairville Superette, Walmart and Whiskey Hill Saloon.
