Wonderful World of Women event set for Saturday

Dunkirk’s Clarion Hotel Marina & Conference Center will host the OBSERVER’s first Wonderful World of Women event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Along with 35 vendors being in attendance there will be five presentations made during the event.

Starting at 10:15 a.m., city of Dunkirk officer Denise Zentz and Melanie Witkowski, executive director of Prevention Works, will talk about recognizing substance abuse in our children and community. At 11 a.m., Detective Nancy Lombardo will discuss human trafficking. A presentation on the Dunkirk Lighthouse is planned for noon followed by a 1 p.m. talk on personal safety for women by the Family Martial Arts organization. At 2 p.m., Bodell, Overcash & Anderson highlights financial planning for women.

“There’s time to shop, relax and learn for all who attend,” said OBSERVER Publisher John D’Agostino.

Prize drawings also will take place throughout the day. Sponsors for the inaugural event include the city of Dunkirk, Farrell Roofing, the YWCA of Westfield and Lake Shore Savings. Tickets are available at the OBSERVER for $3 each with a buy one, get one free coupon on Page A10 today. They also will be available at the Clarion on Saturday during the event. Children under 10 are free.

Saturday’s OBSERVER event coincides with a busy weekend that nearly signals the end of summer. Fredonia is hosting the Red, White and Blues event tonight and Saturday while the Picnic at the Point will take place in Dunkirk during Saturday afternoon.
