Rural Ministry seeks help after theft

OBSERVER Staff Report

Chautauqua County Rural Ministry, which is located at 319 Washington Ave., Dunkirk was recently burglarized.

“Crime affects those violated in many different ways. When Chautauqua County Rural Ministry was burglarized this past week, it not only impacted the immediate services but also several of the upcoming projects,” said Executive Director Kathleen G. Peterson. “The security and safety provided to those who are hungry and in need was completely violated.”

According to Peterson, they were burglarized on Nov. 20. The perpetrator knifed screens, broke windows, stole a cash register, and destroyed cameras.

“The financial loss to the agency is devastating and due to a large insurance deductible, will have a significant impact on the upcoming holiday season,” said Peterson.

The Dunkirk Police Department and detectives are actively working on the case.

Rural Ministry is seeking assistance. If you would like help cover the loss, please contact Peterson at 366-1787.
