Editor’s Note: All Chautauqua County statistics are provided by the state Education Department and are based on districtwide graduation rates as of August.

While Chautauqua County school districts as whole saw a slight decrease, several institutions made improvements.

The total county graduation rate fell from 82% in 2018 to 81% in 2019 while the dropout rate decreased to 6%, a change of 2%. Students who graduated with an advanced placement diploma decreased from 34% to 33%.

The New York State graduation rate as a whole increased from 82.6% in 2018 to 83.4% in 2019. State officials noted that the overall graduation rate is up 7.3% from 2006.

The state’s dropout rate increased slightly to 6.1%, a 0.1% percent change.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY

From 2018 to 2019, the Bemus Point Central School District graduation rate increased from 90% to 97%. Students who graduated with advanced placement creased from 63% to 67%; those with a regents diploma increased from 24% to 30%; and those with a local diploma decreased from 3% to 0%.

The dropout rate decreased from 7% to 0% in 2019 while the percentage of students who didn’t graduate and who are still enrolled remained flat at 3%.

The Brocton Central School District graduation rate decreased from 87% to 84%. Students who graduated with advanced placement decreased from 26% to 21%; those with a regents diploma decreased from 49% to 42%; and those with a local diploma increased from 11% to 21%.

The dropout rate increased from 4% to 5% in 2019 while the percentage of students who didn’t graduate and who are still enrolled decreased from 13% to 11%.

The Cassadaga Valley Central School District graduation rate increased from 85% to 90%. Students who graduated with advanced placement increased from 27% to 40%; those with a regents diploma decreased from 50% to 38%; and those with a local diploma increased from 7% to 12%.

The dropout rate decreased from 8% to 3% in 2019 while the percentage of students who didn’t graduate and who are still enrolled increased from 2% to 3%.

The Chautauqua Lake Central School District graduation rate decreased from 85% to 83%. Students who graduated with advanced placement decreased from 29% to 23%; those with a regents diploma decreased from 55% to 51%; and those with a local diploma increased from 3% to 9%.

The dropout rate increased from 2% to 7% in 2019 while the percentage of students who didn’t graduate and who are still enrolled decreased from 12% to 6%.

The Clymer Central School District graduation rate remained flat at 100%. Students who graduated with advanced placement decreased from 61% to 42%; those with a regents diploma increased from 25% to 42%; and those with a local diploma increased from 14% to 16%.

The dropout rate remained flat at 0% in 2019 while the percentage of students who didn’t graduate and who are still enrolled remained flat at 0%.

The Dunkirk City School District graduation rate increased from 66% to 72%. Students who graduated with advanced placement increased from 13% to 20%; those with a regents diploma decreased from 56% to 49%; and those with a local diploma remained flat at 3%.

The dropout rate increased from 18% to 20% in 2019 while the percentage of students who didn’t graduate and who are still enrolled decreased from 13% to 8%.

The Falconer Central School District graduation rate increased from 83% to 92%. Students who graduated with advanced placement increased from 32% to 33%; those with a regents diploma increased from 44% to 51%; and those with a local diploma increased from 7% to 8%.

The dropout rate increased from 6% to 7% in 2019 while the percentage of students who didn’t graduate and who are still enrolled decreased from 11% to 2%.

The Forestville Central School District graduation rate decreased from 93% to 85%. Students who graduated with advanced placement decreased from 43% to 29%; those with a regents diploma decreased from 56% to 44%; and those with a local diploma increased from 2% to 12%.

The dropout rate increased from 0% to 6% in 2019 while the percentage of students who didn’t graduate and who are still enrolled increased from 0% to 3%.

The Fredonia Central School District graduation rate decreased from 95% to 92%. Students who graduated with advanced placement decreased from 54% to 45%; those with a regents diploma increased from 39% to 42%; and those with a local diploma increased 2% to 5%.

The dropout rate increased from 2% to 5% in 2019 while the percentage of students who didn’t graduate and who are still enrolled increased from 1% to 2%.

The Frewsburg Central School District graduation rate increased from 81% to 92%. Students who graduated with advanced placement increased from 31% to 37%; those with a regents diploma increased from 42% to 49%; and those with a local diploma decreased from 8% to 6%.

The dropout rate decreased from 8% to 5% in 2019 while the percentage of students who didn’t graduate and who are still enrolled decreased from 7% to 3%.

The Jamestown Public Schools District graduation rate decreased from 73% to 71%. Students who graduated with advanced placement increased from 27% to 28%; those with a regents diploma decreased from 39% to 37%; and those with a local diploma remained flat at 7%.

The dropout rate increased from 13% to 16% in 2019 while the percentage of students who didn’t graduate and who are still enrolled increased from 10% to 11%.

The Panama Central School District graduation rate increased from 97% to 100%. Students who graduated with advanced placement increased from 24% to 29%; those with a regents diploma increased from 64% to 69%; and those with a local diploma decreased from 9% to 2%.

The dropout rate remained flat at 0% in 2019 while the percentage of students who didn’t graduate and who are still enrolled remained flat at 0%.

The Pine Valley Central School District graduation rate decreased from 86% to 66%. Students who graduated with advanced placement creased from 24% to 18%; those with a regents diploma decreased from 62% to 41%; and those with a local diploma increased at 0% to 7%.

The dropout rate increased from 5% to 18% in 2019 while the percentage of students who didn’t graduate and who are still enrolled increased from 0% to 11%.

The Sherman Central School District graduation rate decreased from 92% to 91%. Students who graduated with advanced placement increased from 38% to 43%; those with a regents diploma decreased from 54% to 47%; and those with a local diploma increased from 0% to 2%.

The dropout rate decreased from 4% to 2% in 2019 while the percentage of students who didn’t graduate and who are still enrolled increased from 4% to 6%.

The Silver Creek Central School District graduation rate decreased from 87% to 86%. Students who graduated with advanced placement increased from 43% to 44%; those with a regents diploma decreased from 42% to 39%; and those with a local diploma increased from 2% to 3%.

The dropout rate decreased from 8% to 3% in 2019 while the percentage of students who didn’t graduate and who are still enrolled increased from 2% to 8%.

The Southwestern Central School District graduation rate increased from 88% to 94%. Students who graduated with advanced placement increased from 39% to 45%; those with a regents diploma decreased from 47% to 42%; and those with a local diploma increased from 3% to 8%.

The dropout rate decreased from, 6% to 3% in 2019 while the percentage of students who didn’t graduate and who are still enrolled remained decreased from 5% to 3%.

The Westfield Academy Central School District graduation rate increased from 80% to 88%. Students who graduated with advanced placement increased from 43% to 45%; those with a regents diploma decreased from 37% to 42%; and those with a local diploma increased from 0% to 2%.

The dropout rate decreased from 7% to 2% in 2019 while the percentage of students who didn’t graduate and who are still enrolled decreased from 9% to 7%.
