Schumer addresses threat, notes faith in police
OBSERVER Staff Report
With the cold breeze coming off Lake Erie and the short notice regarding the announcement by U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, the crowd was sparse on Thursday morning at Memorial Park in Dunkirk.
Law enforcement from the city, however, was in full alert. Just one day before, a 56-year-old man from Greece — outside of Rochester — was arrested in connection with a voice mail death threat against the senator.
Schumer spoke briefly about the incident on Thursday. “I have complete faith and confidence in our law enforcement,” he said. “They always do a great job.
“There are always haters in this world, as this felon is, but I have complete faith in my safety and the safety of others because of our law enforcement whether it be local police, state police or the federal law enforcement. They do a great job.”
