Vigil set to remember Forestville teen

Dana Rene Burkhart

FORESTVILLE — A community vigil to remember a teenager will take place on Wednesday night. Organizers will be meeting on the mall in Forestville and “would greatly appreciate it if everyone in our community would come together to show our love for Dana and her family.”

The event begins at 7 p.m.

Dana Rene “Angel” Burkhart, 16, of Forestville, passed away on Saturday in John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo due to health complications. Dana was surrounded by her loving family. According to her obituary, she attended Forestville Central School and then she did home schooling. She attended Family Church in Fredonia and she was involved in children’s church and youth group.

All this week, Family Church of Fredonia lit its building blue in her memory. Wednesday’s event also has that color for a theme. “We would like it if everyone can wear something blue and we are sking the community to light up their homes with a blue light,” organizers requested.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Forestville Fire Department, 18 Chestnut St., Forestville, NY 14062. Arrangements are by Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville.
