Celebrating “Small Business Revolution” co-hosts Ty Pennington and Amanda Brinkman, hundreds of local residents rallied downtown to welcome them to the village of Fredonia Friday night.

Amanda Brinkman is the Chief Brand and Communications Officer at Deluxe Corporation and creator, producer and co-host of “Small Business Revolution,” which was named among Inc. Magazine’s top shows for entrepreneurs. In the inspirational reality show, Brinkman showcases her love for small towns by spearheading efforts to revitalize entire communities and providing makeovers to small businesses across America, according to their website.

“Brinkman is a sought-after public speaker, sharing her ‘Do Well By Doing Good’ philosophy on stages around the country. She demonstrates how both companies and individuals can make a meaningful and positive difference in people’s lives, while increasing their own success in the process. It is her passionate belief that companies must identify their brand’s purpose but they cannot stop there, they must find their unique brand action,” states smallbusinessrevolution.org.

In the third season, Ty Pennington, TV host, carpenter, designer, author, artist, musician, joined Deluxe and Brinkman to transform small businesses and communities.

Pennington has also hosted other shows like, “Trading Spaces” and “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

“On the show, he’s combining his love for helping people with his years of renovation experience, and working with Deluxe to transform small businesses,” states smallbusinessrevolution.org.

On Friday, Fredonia gave Brinkman and Pennington a huge warm welcome with hundreds of people downtown, screaming and cheering for them as they came on stage. Other welcome announcements came from Douglas Essek, Fredonia mayor; Andrew Goodell, state assemblyman; and PJ Wendel, county executive.

When Brinkman and Pennington came on stage, the screams and applause did not let down from the hundreds of people in the crowd, even though it was snowing and 33 degrees.

“We do this because we really want to prove how important small businesses are to our communities,” said Brinkman.

The co-hosts of the show introduced the seven business that won, out of over 120 applications, to the stage to congratulate them and introduce the owners to the village.

“The energy, the fun, the excitement, it really is infectious here and it spreads throughout the town. Everybody starts working with each other, we all get to know one another and it’s just a really cool experience,” said Pennington.

Grace Czechowski presented Brinkman with a bouquet of flowers from one of the businesses that won and presented Pennington with a box of pizza and wing shaped chocolates. Brinkman then recognized Czechowski. “Ty, little known fact, Grace (Czechowski) here was the one who nominated Fredonia. … She was the one who introduced us to this amazing village of Fredonia,” said Brinkman.

Pennington and Brinkman were gifted keys to the village of Fredonia by Mayor Essek to thank them for putting Fredonia in the national spotlight and coming to Fredonia to help out the businesses. The band The Rising then performed, with surprise musical guests, Pennington on guitar and Brinkman on the cowbell, with supportive cheers from the crowd. The band continued until 9 p.m., then the village celebrated with a pub crawl.
