Cattaraugus cases hit 10

Cattaraugus County Health Department was notified of its 10th confirmed case of COVID-19. The reporting laboratory was Quest Diagnostics Laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA.

A male resident who lives in the southeastern part of the county with no significant travel history who was admitted to Olean General Hospital on Friday for fever, cough, weakness, chest and abdominal pains. Chest X-ray revealed bilateral pneumonia. Patient was tested for COVID-19 upon admission and on Sunday, the results of the test indicated that he was positive for COVID-19.

Upon discharge, the patient will be quarantined. He will be assessed for any medical support that the county can provide and they will monitor his symptoms closely.

The department has begun a thorough contact tracing investigation for those individuals that he has been in contact with and the places that he visited.
