Dunkirk graduate joins Dallas Police Department

Nicholas Barlette

Nicholas Barlette, son of Robert and Wendy Barlette of Dunkirk was sworn in by Chief Renee Hall as a member of the Dallas Police Department in a virtual graduation ceremony held on March 27.

As part of the Dallas Police Academy, Nicholas completed 1400 hours, over a nine-month period, of Basic Police Training. He received a Certificate of Achievement for outstanding performance during training as a member of Recruit Class 367 by attaining the highest Motor Fitness Proficiency Average of 100, being only the eighth recruit in the history of the academy to achieve this status, as well as the all-time academy record for doing the most sit ups in one minute.

He has been assigned to the Dallas, Texas South Central Division and began his new duties as of March 30.
